At DriveReady NZ, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use our mobile application. By using DriveReady NZ, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Compliance with New Zealand Law

This policy is designed to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) set out therein.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and maintain the App's functionality.

a. Anonymous Account Data

The App operates without requiring you to create a named account. An anonymous session identifier is assigned automatically when you first open the App. No name, email address, or other personal identifiers are collected unless you choose to provide them.

b. Usage and Progress Data

• Quiz Performance: Your scores, correct and incorrect answer history, and category progress are stored to support the "Review Mistakes" feature and personalised study experience.
• Gamification State: Data relating to your Hearts, streaks, badges, XP, and current level are stored to maintain your app state across sessions.

c. Device and Preference Data

• Preferences: Settings such as haptics and audio effects are stored locally on your device or synced to your account.
• Device Metadata: Basic device information (such as OS version) may be collected to support app stability and compatibility.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• Session continuity: To save and restore your progress across devices and sessions.
• Personalisation: To display your study history, streaks, and achievements accurately.
• App improvement: To identify technical issues and improve the overall experience based on usage patterns.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party service to operate DriveReady NZ:

• Supabase: Provides cloud database infrastructure for storing your progress and account state. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is bound by data protection and confidentiality obligations.

We do not use third-party advertising networks, behavioural tracking services, or data brokers.

5. Data Retention and Security

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest to protect your information from unauthorised access or disclosure.

6. Your Rights and Data Control

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the following rights:

• Access and Correction: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct any inaccuracies.
• Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete Account within the App. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Data Portability: You may request an export of your personal data by contacting us at the address below.

7. Children's Privacy

DriveReady NZ is intended for individuals preparing for the New Zealand Learner Licence (typically age 15 and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable legal requirements. Where changes are significant, we will notify you via an in-app notice. The current version is always accessible within the App and at driveready.nz/privacy.
